Yes. Voipia’s phone service works independently of your computer, so you can make and receive calls while using your computer.  Be aware that some computer programs can use up most of your internet connection’s bandwidth and cause your calls to be choppy or jittery.  Consult your Router’s manual and/or speak with one of our Service Agents to learn how to set up Quality of Service (QOS) settings on your Router to prioritize voice packets over other Data traffic.  Each simultaneous VoIP call needs 72kbps of bandwidth.

Can I take my phone number with me if I ever leave Voipia?

No. Voipia Networks is a VoIP company, not a Regional Phone Company like SBC or Cell Phone Company like Verizon Wireless. We do not own the phone numbers we provide to our subscribers. Rather, Voipia leases the phone numbers from our underlying carriers and assigns them to our subscribers. If Voipia assigns a phone number to a subscriber, the subscriber is able to use this number as long as they stay with Voipia Networks.

Yes. If you already have a phone number in your name on a phone bill from a Regional Phone Company, or Cell Phone Company, you can port it to Voipia Networks (provided we have facilities connected to the Phone Company that is currently providing you the phone number). In this case, the subscriber should be able to take their phone number with them should they ever decide to leave Voipia Networks.
